Scraps of Fortune, 6" by 6" collage on canvas

This past week I dropped my brand new Galaxy Nexus in about 6" of water. I didn't realize it until about 10 minutes later when I began to panic at the reality of what had happened. My friends helped dry it and dumb me, not realizing I shouldn't, powered it on to see if it was even close to alive. It did turn on, then it began turning itself off, then on, and off repeatedly and that's about all it would do. That night, after so many of you and others had suggested using rice I tried it. The next morning I woke up, put the phone back together, and turned it on. I still sit amazed and mystified that it works, with no sign whatsoever of the water damage. At first, there were water droplets inside the lens of the camera and the picture on the left shows what an image of a doorway looked like, but it is really unusable. After about 3 hours the droplets evaporated I guess and the camera took the shot of my cat on the right. I can't explain how this phone survived. It may be that Samsung designed it water tight, I have no clue. What I do know is that drying it out in rice worked miracles and I must have a horseshoe stuck up in the right direction somewhere. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with this but if you do drop your phone or electronic in water, try having it sit in rice. It just might save your sanity and your device.
Here is the link to the original post with the great discussion many of you offered as help along with an article about rice from Lifehacker. Totally worth the read if you are looking for solutions. https://plus.google.com/108112557629934458248/posts/WHc737Feqr4

Read MoreI am sure we will see this shared tons in the next few days but after waiting for 7 months I am THRILLED along with everyone else about this new Google+ change. Now, when you create a post and it is shared, the original post follows the shares! Woooohoooo!
Reshared post from +Siegfried Hirsch
Google+ now has Finally Backlinks to Original Posting
One of the most used features on Google+ is the SHARE
Sometimes postings have a few hundred shares and there was only a link to the original profile of AUTHOR of the posting, but not to the exact shared posting.
Now a link to the original posting is included
Try it by yourself and share this posting and you will see.
It is really hard to understand, why it took the Google+ team so long to include this feature.
On Wednesday I had posted a question in the Google+ hangout but it was not answered in the hangout. Because in the Google+ API all information is available for the backlink. And now this nice makeup is there.
Thanks Google+ Team
+Andrew Brown has spotted it in a one of my share first.
PS: sorry for taking this reshared posting for demonstration +Robert Anderson

Read MoreGoogle+ Circle Heads by +Patrick Sharpe
+Patrick Sharpe just happened to throw out an offer in my stream today that I couldn’t pass up. He offered to change our square head to a circle one, for free, no strings attached, just as a way to connect with new folks and spread some circle cheer today on Google+. As easy as it would have been for me to alter my pic on Photoshop, any time a Google+er reaches out in kindness, I am more than eager to reach back. If you want your square pic changed to a circle, click on the link to his posts here:

Read MorePlease God and everybody tell me there is some way to salvage my Galaxy Nexus. I have had my brand new phone less than a month, like an idiot chose not to buy additional insurance, and dropped it in 6″ of water today….submerging it. It sat there for about 10 min before I realized what had happened. I took it apart, dried it, and pretty much tried not to freak completely out. It turns on, some of its functions work, but for the most part it just turns itself on and off repeatedly. I am amazed it even turned on. Right now, it is sitting in rice. Do any of you know if there are additional steps I can do to try and save this phone? I haven’t even gotten my first bill for the dang thing and can’t afford to buy a new one period. Pretty much I feel like I am screwed, but as always, will hold out for a miracle?

Either it has just been a really long day or the "You're Not Doing Enough" voices are stuck in repeat mode. Geesh, what happened to waking up and just being able to sling some paint or words? Sigh……
