Asus Transformer Thoughts

So, my budget for a small tablet is between $300-$400 and I see that I can get a Transformer, not Prime, for $349. I also hear that an upgrade to ICS is in the works to be released later this month. That poses me two questions – 1. Is that a good price for this tablet? 2. Will I have to wait for the upgrade to ICS to utilize the latest Google+ apps features or will they work on the Honeycomb as well?

Any of you have thoughts on this?

Love This Rocking Chair!

The design of this rocking chair by artist marija cvetinovic is brilliant. It not only looks beautiful, but it encourages conversation and connection, two of my musts for a happy family. I might consider a different fabric, but overall, would love to hang out in this. You can find info about it at the link below.

Have You Tried Black Vodka?

This drink intrigues me. I haven't had any yet, have read up on it, but am dying to know from some folks who have actually ingested it how the smoothness and taste it. From what I read it is a bit smoother than traditional Vodka. If you have had the chance to drink it what are your thoughts? I am sure it would make a wicked cool drink for a party.

Lytro Light Field Camera

Have you all heard of this Lytro Camera yet? If so, what are your thoughts about it. The specs and descriptions seem intriguing, especially in light of its ability to capture the light so well. I am not a photographer so this little gem may be just a fad, but I must say, my curiosity is piqued.

From the website: "Lytro lets you take pictures like never before. Unlike a conventional camera that captures a single plane of light, the Lytro camera captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space."

I am totally loving the fun to be had using the Creative Kit in Google+! No, I am…

I am totally loving the fun to be had using the Creative Kit in Google+! No, I am not a pro photographer at all, I simply love the ease of snapping a photo and being able to creatively manipulate it in Google+ then share it here. I especially wanted to play around with abstract textures and images and so far, I love the results. If you haven't used it yet consider trying it out. This image was actually a blue cup on the side of my nightstand and this abstract image resulted from changing contrast, saturation, and using several fades in the extras options.

Photoshop will always be my standard for my fine art work but when it comes around to enjoying the ease of taking pics with my Galaxy Nexus and having them quickly adaptable with creative options, the Creative Kit is way too much fun not to use.

Cathedral Square, Mobile, Al. by the Galaxy Nexus Panoramic Camera

For the last 7 days I have had the sheer pleasure of getting to know my Galaxy Nexus phone a bit better and one of the features I love so much about it is the panoramic photos I can take with its camera. Here is a view of Cathedral Square in Mobile, and our gallery sits just behind the red and white umbrellas across the street. As a painter, I use reference images quite a lot and this new view will give me much more diversity in my POV and street scenes. Looking forward to seeing what creative ways I can come up with to use the panoramic mode for more photos!

Reviewing Top Ranked Art Blogs and Websites

As an artist and a blogger, I want to know which websites are consistently showing a successful online presence so that I can learn from them. Here is a link to 75 of the top art blogs based on rank in Google, Alexa, Yahoo and others along with page ranks, links to pages, and ultimate ranks. After reviewing most of them my immediate reaction was that most of them used a white background and kept the distractions and noise to a minimum. I will spend a good bit of time sorting through the variables I am looking for but wanted to share the list here in case any of my art or blogger friends wanted a peek as well.
