New To Google+? This Will Help! Backing Up Your Data

After the crazy suspension and reinstatement of +pio dal cin today the topic of backing up our data on Google+ became an important part of the discussion. +Jack C Crawford shared the Google link and reminded us that we can back up our data here, including pics, streams, and circles using the link here. For me, having so much data heavily connected through my network here, backing up my data will be a weekly MUST for me. Thought you all might want to know about it too, just in case.

New to Google+? This WILL Help! Backlinks to Original Posts Work!

I am sure we will see this shared tons in the next few days but after waiting for 7 months I am THRILLED along with everyone else about this new Google+ change. Now, when you create a post and it is shared, the original post follows the shares! Woooohoooo!

Reshared post from +Siegfried Hirsch

Google+ now has Finally Backlinks to Original Posting

One of the most used features on Google+ is the SHARE
Sometimes postings have a few hundred shares and there was only a link to the original profile of AUTHOR of the posting, but not to the exact shared posting.

Now a link to the original posting is included
Try it by yourself and share this posting and you will see.

It is really hard to understand, why it took the Google+ team so long to include this feature.

On Wednesday I had posted a question in the Google+ hangout but it was not answered in the hangout. Because in the Google+ API all information is available for the backlink. And now this nice makeup is there.

Thanks Google+ Team

+Andrew Brown has spotted it in a one of my share first.

PS: sorry for taking this reshared posting for demonstration +Robert Anderson

Our Own Message or Platform Just Became Much More Relevant

I just came across the post from +Natalie Villalobos in December and it fits in perfectly with where my head is concerning the announcement of Google+ integration with Google Search and what this means for each of us. If you are a Newbie to Google+, I am sure you are slowly trying to find your way around, see how it it functions and figure out who to circle, how to circle, and what to share. It is in the figuring out what to share that seems at the forefront now that Google Search will impact us in a more dramatic way. As Natalie points out, if we choose, we each must decide what we wish to serve to our audience.

This is not merely a social network, unless you intend on following a handful of personal or private brands and never sharing publicly, which some might, you will be faced with the question of what message to send out into this world through Google+ which will now reach the masses through Google Search. For me, it puts a whole new spin of what type of image or post I choose to share publicly because that will affect how 'discoverable' I am. Luckily, I am not marketing a product per se, but as a personal entity, what I share here publicly will be relevant to my connections so that is important to me.

Google has brilliantly begun to unfold where they are headed in relation to integrating this product with its others. For me, I am now faced with the idea of what message I will choose to integrate with the world on a much broader level. What about You? Will this integration make you reconsider your 15 minutes of fame?

What Will You Do With Your "15 Minutes of Fame?"
be it for glory, for money, for the next 7 generations…

I frequently hear on Google+ that people are either extremely happy that they have a "following" or aren't too sure what having a following means. Some want more people attracted to them, and some want less. I think the more important questions are: What are you going to serve your audience? What do you want from the impact of your message(s)? Can you imagine if every "celebrity" took these questions into consideration before we as a popular culture gave them so much "power?"

Sidenote: At this point in history we can mobilize each other instantly over the web – can you imagine what it'd be like if we could find alignment on our visions and make great things happen?

New To Google+? Changes To Search

I am so excited about the changes to search announced today! Will this change the way you post or structure your public posts? I am guessing, now that we can see the potential reach of Google+ in search, many changes might appear in posting behaviors. What are your thoughts?

Reshared post from +Amit Singhal

Today we are introducing Search plus Your World, a new Google search experience centered around people. For the first time ever, you will be able to find personal results from your world — your photos, your friends, your stuff — in search.

It's rolling out today and should be available in the US for all signed in Google users over the next few days.

If you are currently using a brand page or thinking about it here on Google+ there…

If you are currently using a brand page or thinking about it here on Google+ there is a great discussion going on in this thread started by +Denis Labelle about the issues/effectiveness of them. You might want to join in with your insight. (At the link below…..not here, ;)

Because "Being on Google+" Is not Enough
and no, it's not about the social network.

"It is obvious that Google+ should be able to maintain organic growth of the brands, and it is yet unclear if the social network can tackle that."

It is not about G+, it's about doing it right. Solution?

New to Google+? This Might Help! Google's Politics Page

I am not fond of politics, nope, not in the least. In fact, I even created a circle of peace here on Google+ to have a small respite from the political storm brewing. Yet, I do realize and appreciate that I am most likely not the norm and considering we are in an election year, know politics will be flooding the streams in the coming months. Google has created a politics hub for news and info that you might choose to follow, interact with, and connect with others who share your views…..or not. Here is their page link for those interested!

New to Google+? Try out the Photo Creative Kit

If you are new to Google+ you might not be aware of the Creative Kit option in the photo program. It has a good number of settings, effects, and adjustments you can make to your photos, especially if you are not a professional photographer and simply want to tweak your images before posting them here or online. You can find it by opening a photo and looking at the top, left area. You will see a tab called "Creative Kit" and a magic wand. I added color, contrast, fireworks, and text to this image, which is of my cat, Marie Louise. (She is most likely not to thrilled mind you, but I love it.)
